Social Development Outreach Worker
Job Summary
The Social Development Outreach Worker will work in conjunction with the current SD staff. The Social Development Worker is responsible for:
1) administration of the Work Opportunities Program, including the hiring of workers, arranging and management of community projects/jobs, provides skill building opportunities, assists workers with timesheets and other needs for the workers that arise.
2) Outreach of vulnerable persons, specifically those eligible for Post Majority services, as well as family support duties as assigned by the supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Performs all duties and responsibilities in accordance with the Ulkatcho Band policies, standards, and procedures, and as directed by the Band Administrator
- Maintains confidentiality on all matters relating to the affairs of the Ulkatcho Band
- Work Opportunity Program
- Outreach to persons on SA/PWD to provide work opportunity to develop skills and experience to reenter the work force.
- Provides home visits to vulnerable persons, namely those eligible for Post Majority services and works in collaboration with SA clerk/Family support worker to provide Post Majority services.
- Works with SA clerk/Family Support Worker to provide monthly reports on clients supported.
- Assists managers in the completion of documentation required for the Work Opportunity program, including monthly reporting, or any related First Nations Social Assistance Employment Training initiative.
- Works with housing manager and Employment Services Coordinator to assess client needs and makes referrals to support resources.
- Assists in the completion of required reports for Chief and Council and attends Chief and Council meetings, as required.
- Outreach support
- Interview families and work with SA clerk/ Family support worker to complete any necessary forms and referrals.
- Completes Home visits and follow-ups on needs by clients.
- Family support as described by the supervisor.
- Other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:
Grade 12 plus courses in business administration, bookkeeping, office administration or social services

Experience:
Prefer (2) years related experience in Community Support Work and Administration
Conditions of Employment:
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Criminal Records Check
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid BC Driver’s License
- Must provide a vehicle in good operating condition and appropriate vehicle insurance to meet program requirements OR access to company vehicle is provided and requires a valid Driver’s License
