SOCIAL WORKER (BACHELORS)
JOB SUMMARY
Ulkatcho First Nation has an exciting opportunity for a permanent full-time Social Worker to join their team at the Ulkatcho Band. In this role, you will provide comprehensive assessment, care planning and treatment coordination for designated clients and their families. Working collaboratively with other health care providers and the multidisciplinary team, you will provide direct psychosocial care, counseling, system navigation and advocacy, education and linkage to relevant specialized complex care resources while facilitating client self-management. As the Social Worker you will be responsible for providing and developing social work services to maintain or improve the health and social well-being and functioning of Ulkatcho First Nation members.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Ability to deal with conflict and address lateral violence in the workplace.
WORKING CONDITIONS
You will provide comprehensive primary care services with a team of general practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, physiotherapists and medical office assistants. Social Workers at Interior Health advocate for social justice at individual, family, organizational, and societal levels through their professional knowledge, values, ethics and skills.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
- Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work from an accredited university.
- Two years recent related experience in a healthcare setting working with medically complex clients with concurrent disorders, or a combination of education, training and experience.
- Current full registration with the British Columbia College of Social Workers.
- Current valid BC driver’s license
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Working knowledge of health and social services policies and programs
- Able to connect and build relationships with others in a positive way;
- Strong knowledge of other activities that will assist with social development;
- Strong knowledge of budgets and program administration;
- Strong organizing, planning and coordinating skills;
- Able to communicate effectively (verbal and written);
- Ability to maintain and use computer databases including Excel, Word and presentation systems;
- Demonstrated ability to successfully establish and maintain respectful, productive and cooperative working relationships;
- Ability to work in a cross-cultural setting; and
- Strong ethics and knowledge of confidentiality.
