
Maintenance and Repairs Foreman
Job description
· Works with the Assets Director and Operations and Maintenance (O&M) Coordinator to ensure all scheduled maintenance and repairs are carried out in a timely manner.
· Ensures that inventory of all supplies is kept and updated daily to ensure sufficient supplies are reordered in a timely manner.
· Works closely with O&M Coordinator to ensure inventory is ordered for maintenance, repairs and renovations and that they are in a secure location.
· Ensures that all workers that report to him have a daily/weekly plan in place at the start of the work week. Ensures that the plan is updated to deal with emergencies.
· Works with his staff providing guidance, supervision and encourage to improve services.
· Works closely with Assets Director and Interim Operations Manager to ensure they are aware of requests to authorize plans (when required)
· Works with Assets Director receiving direction, guidance, in discussing plans and priorities.
· Ensures that all contractors are abiding by their contracts ensuring quality work is being provide to the Ulkatcho First Nation.
· Works alongside the staff to demonstrate proper techniques that should be used in maintenance and repairs.
· Project Management: Significant amount of time spent with renovation and repair and maintenance crew as well as contractors to ensure projects are going forward in a timely manner and troubleshooting as necessary.
· Perform other duties as assigned by Assets Director and Interim Operations Manager
Qualifications:
Education & Experience:
- A post-secondary degree or diploma in a related field.
- Minimum of 5-10 years experience in building maintenance, renovations, carpentry and/or other trades.
- Five years’ experience leading a renovation crew strongly desired
Skills & Abilities:
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Renovation skills including but not limited to drywall, carpentry, flooring, roofing
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills with strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
Cultural Competency:
- Understanding and respect for First Nations culture and values
- Ability to work effectively and respectfully within a First Nations community and understand the unique challenges faced by First Nations’ communities.
Other Requirements:
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
Working Conditions:
- Occasional travel within the community or to other locations for meetings, site inspections, or project-related activities.
- Flexible working hours may be required for project deadlines or emergencies.
