Healthy Living Worker

Position Summary

 

Under the direction of the Health Director, works to promote health and wellness in their community. The Healthy Living Worker role will work with individuals and groups to promote healthy eating, physical exercise and provide support to improve both spiritual and mental wellness.  

Accountability

The individual in this position will work under the supervision of the Health Director.  The individual in this position will work closely with the heath director to implement a healthy living group and challenge for the community.  This individual will be responsible to handle all client information on a strict confidential basis and will be held accountable for any violation of confidential information

 

Hours

This position is a casual position paid on an hourly basis with wages based on experience. Working hours vary depending on needs.

Duties

• Engage with community members to promote healthy living; ranging from healthy eating, nutrition, physical activity, mental and spiritual wellness activities. 
• Motivates clients to engage in health and wellness activities based upon their needs
• Works as a fellow team member to support community health representative, youth workers, and homecare team.
• Organizes and implements wellness projects for community.
• Perform other duties as assigned

Qualifications

 

Education & Experience

·         Health promotion and maintenance

·         Good communication skills

·         Emotional control

·         Ability to work in teams 

Occupational Certification

• Standard First Aid certificate
• Food Safe Level 1 certificate
• Current Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) certificate

·         Criminal Record Check, including vulnerable sector check

·         Valid Drivers License
