JOB DESCRIPTION

 

 

HEADSTART MANAGER

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

1)      be on duty at school in the head start classroom each day at Nagwuntl’oo School and notify the Education Director of the UFN if unable to report for duty.

2)      take and record attendance.

3)      maintain discipline so that effective learning may take place.

4)      evaluate and record each student’s progress and keep cumulative records accurately and up to date.

5)      keep informed of development in the field by attending seminars, conventions, workshops (subject to approval of the UFN.

6)      co-operate with other members of staff, treat each other with respect.

7)      strive to relate indigenous heritage in lessons taught whenever possible.

8)      report to appropriate authorities any problems with maintenance.

9)      attend all staff meetings and school functions.

10)  work with other staff to evaluate effectiveness of instruction, to set realistic aims and objectives for teaching and to insure these aims and objectives are met.

11)  be aware of the need for good public and community leadership, take all opportunities to interpret this program to the public and encourage community participation in the development of its programs and activities.

12)  provide educational leadership in the head start program’

13)  be responsible for discipline in the head start program, on the grounds and during school-sponsored activities.

14)  be responsible for all head start records and prepare reports as requested by the UFN.

15)  be responsible for the development of the head start program

16)  assist the Director in the preparation of the budget by submission of estimates of the requirements of the programs at the school.

17)  carry out the duties assigned by the UFN.

18)  order adequate supplies within the head start budget.

19)  follow the Teacher/School Administrator Regulation Branch Code of Ethics.

20)  Complete all required year end reports.

 

Education requirements:

·          ECE certification

·          At least two years of experience in the Headstart program
