Food Security Worker
Position Summary
This position encompasses Child and Families Program deliverables including supporting vulnerable persons, families, including Elders, Child & Youth, and those on Social Assistance. The responsibilities include cooking for the weekly community luncheon and coordination and delivery of food security activities.
Duties:
- Cook Community Lunch on Tuesdays, cleaning of kitchen following the luncheon.
- Maintain Hall kitchen for example inventory and basic food items in stock.
- Plan Menus on a Budget
- Work with the Director to acquire equipment, for example canners.
- Plan and implement activities such as Canning Workshops, eating on a Budget Workshop, learning to read labels.
- May plan on having special guest for workshop for example Nutritionist and Elder who is skilled in food preparation and preservation.
Accountability
- The coordinator will work under the supervision of the Ulkatcho First Nation, and the Social Development Director.
- The individual in the position will work as a team member and will assume responsibility and accountability to adhere to the policies, procedures, and strategic principles of the Ulkatcho Nation.
- Client confidentiality for this position will be strictly adhered to and any violation of this policy will be held accountable for.
Hours:
Part Time with a wage dependent on certification and experience
Qualifications
- Certification in Culinary Arts
- Food Safe
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written
- Computer skills an asset
- Emotional Control
- Ability to be flexible and adaptability.
